L&PS Rolling Stock - Motor Cars No 12 and 14

 

 

Ordered in Nov 1915 from the Jewett Car Co of Newark Ohio for $33,665.70 each, these all steel coaches were 71 feet long weighing in at 55 tons. Ten feet longer than the previous Jewett's ( No 2 - 10 ) and with a 72 passenger capacity, they were claimed to be the largest interurban cars operating in Canada. The cars were retired in 1957. No 14 is at the Elgin County Railway Museum in St. Thomas ( 2006 ). No 12 was sold to Garnet Speers of Port Stanley in 1960 and subsequently scrapped.
