Mile 16.1: Mill Creek Bridge
Constructed by the Dominion Bridge Company in 1895, this all steel bridge was 544 feet long and 75 feet high.
Looking north across the bridge. The double track main of the L&PS was narrowed down at this point using a gauntlet track across the bridge. The Pere Marquette has running rights over this section of the L&PS, using it to reach the MCR mainline and points east. In order to handle the increasing heavy Pere Marquette traffic, the ravine was eventually filled in during the 1930's, completely burying the bridge.

Train No 2 leaving the gauntlet track to return to the northbound main. Traffic handling was complicated by the fact that the PM trains travelled in both directions on the L&PS southbound main. The northbound main was never upgraded to the heavier rail necessary to handle the PM locomotives.
