Mile 21.5: Zavitts Creek Bridge

In 1894 the Lake Erie and Detroit River Railway leased the L&PS for 20 years. On taking over the line, the LE&DR made major improvements, including contracting with the Dominion Bridge Company to replace the old wooden trestle at Zavitts Creek. They filled in much of the ravine and spanned the remaining 226 feet with this all steel bridge carrying the tracks 85 feet above Zavitts Creek.

L3 and SP1 are keeping the main clear on a blustery winter day. The bridge was often photographed from this vantage point.
