Mile 23.8: Port Stanley Station (Stop 24)
The main station in Port Stanley is located on the banks of the Kettle Creek at Bridge St.
It is shown here after its expansion and renovation in the 1920s. Notice the penny scale on the platform. It entertained passengers by providing their weight and fortune. The hillside cottages above the station were a popular accommodation for summer vacationers.

Here we see a four car passenger train returning from the beach terminal. It is about to pass the freight shed, an all concrete structure built soon after the station was renovated. The L&PS tracks, squeezed between the station structures and the creek, were protected from erosion by a 450 foot retaining wall built in 1917. The building south east of the station across Bridge Street was the L&PS refreshment booth, serving up icecream, pastries, lunches and cold drinks to waiting passengers. The through-truss bridge ( off the picture to the left), was soon to be replaced by a lift bridge in 1939.
