Mile 7.9: 6th Concession Westminster (Stop 7)

Previous PageNext Page

Stop 7, at the 6th concession road in Westminster Township, is just south of the highest point on the L&PS. Known as Munroe cut (for the original landowner, John Munroe ) this area tops out at 915 feet elevation, a 328 foot climb from the lake shore. The slight 1% ruling grade on the L&PS enables their boxcab electric locomotives to haul up to 1375 tons over line.

Here in the early morning sunshine, an L&PS boxcab crests Munroe cut southbound with a mixed freight.
